Emelia's last day

Emelia has been part of the Musikool Kids' family since she was a baby, and has now started school! On Emelia's last day at Musikool Kids, she made sure she had all her favourite songs by planning the morning's session for me.

Some of Emelia's favourite songs were; Little Clown Dance, Five Little Monkeys, See Me Go In, Twinkle Twinkle Little Star, Baa Baa Black Sheep, the I Love You song with Riley Rabbit and of course Happy School Days.

Afterwards, Riley Rabbit let Emelia hold him for a while. Farewell Emelia, we wish you well at school and hope you come back to visit us sometime! We will miss you!

May FISH

Monica led the fun and games at FISH this month... which included balloons, giant pictionary and a bluffing game, 'What's in the Box'.

Thanks Monica!

Pentecost pictures

A couple of weeks ago we celebrated Pentecost, and the fact that God's love is all around and always with us.

Our activities were fire and wind themed... we made a Pentecost hanging with red, orange and yellow streamers and had fun with balloon helicopters.

FISH this Saturday

You're invited to join us at the Chapel Street Centre for a family games night this Saturday. FISH is loads of fun, a great chance to get to know other families in the community and have a laugh. Any questions please don't hesitate to contact me. We'd love to see you there!

Love leads on

Last Sunday, Isabella was chosen to be a leader for God. But, before we sent her out into the world to do God's work, we had to make sure she was ready.

I thought she was too young, and maybe didn't have enough experience, perhaps she didn't know enough, and was pretty sure she might get hurt.

So, I loaded poor Bella up with lots of stuff in a massive backpack... she had a Question & Answer Book, a Dictionary for Advanced Learners (in case she needed to use some big words), a First Aid book and First Aid Kit, some food, insect repellent, and then of course she wore knee pads, helmet and a high-vis vest.

After all that, I was still worried she might get hurt so I wrapped her up in bubble wrap.

"But Mel, there's just one problem!" said Bella. "I'm supposed to be reading the prayer this morning, and I can't do it like this!"
"Where's your prayer?" I asked.
"In my pocket!" said Bella.

Uh oh. She could hardly get to her pocket, encased in bubble wrap, and it would have been difficult getting up to the lectern like that too. There was only one thing for it, we had to remove all the protective gear and equipment, and let Bella go out there just as she is.

Because, that's the thing. It doesn't matter if we're young or old, strong or weak, shy or brave... God uses as just as we are, to be leaders in the world. We are enough, we are good enough, strong enough, brave enough... we just have to listen for God's voice in all that we do, so that we can go out and share God's love with our community and the world.

And, the really cool thing is that wherever we go, God is there with us, helping us. Think about all the places you will go in the coming week... school, work, library, supermarket, sports field, squash court, dance lessons, gymnastics, playground - in all those places, God is there with you!

Afterwards, our Awesome Kids made some compasses with Paul, just using a magnet, a nail, a little piece of bubble wrap and some water!

We also made some map art, using some awesome maps Carol found for us in the second-hand bookstore.

We remembered that wherever we go in the world, God is always with us, in each place, every step of the way, helping us live in love.

Thanks Mum

Hope all the mums, aunties, grandmas, nanas, and all the special people out there who care for our children had a lovely day today.

Here are a couple of videos our Awesome Kids made for Mothers' Day, some years back. How they have grown!

Teeth! Teeth! Teeth!

Last FISH night included games which were all about trying to make someone smile, or show their teeth. Good old favourites and some new games like...

"Zip and Bong"
and
"If You Love Me Honey Smile"

In these photos, Belinda & Izak are trying desperately not to show their teeth (rather difficult when you are on the verge of uncontrollable laughter), and Liam is trying to get Andrew to crack a smile in "If You Love Me Honey, Smile".

Check out the video clips from our last FISH night. Ping Pong Bulrush and the Dancing Detective Game were great hits! In the Dancing Detective, one person had to try and guess who was leading all the dance moves. There were some very interesting dance steps and the detectives had to have eyes in the back of their head to work out who was the leader.

Secret Dancer at FISH

Last FISH night we played a heap of new games. This one was 'Secret Dancer'. Andrew was trying to guess who the secret person was leading all the weird and wonderful dance moves!

Bubble fun!

This morning, we heard a story in church about a king, who wasn't bothered about shiny crowns, fancy clothes or having servants. This k...
