Welcome back to Musikool

It was wonderful to see so many of you back at Musikool Kids this morning, for the first session of term four... despite it being a long weekend, and I'm sure many of you are heading out of town to make the most of the 3 day break.

It was great to have some Dads with us today, and I think I counted 2 grandads and 4 grandmas also present!

Look who I spotted outside Musikool Kids this morning... unfortunately she wasn't quite in time for our session, otherwise she may have enjoyed a round of Five Little Ducks perhaps?

Hope you all have a lovely weekend, and look forward to seeing you and hearing your beautiful voices next Friday.

If you have any special requests for songs you'd like, please let me know. Thanks!

WONDER art

We read the book, ‘Wonder’ by R.J.Palacio, which is about a boy who looks different to most people.  Auggie has a severe form of Treacher-Collins Syndrome, causing a cranio-facial difference.

As Auggie says, the Earth is full of billions of people. “People of all different colours. People who walk and talk differently. People who look different. Like me!

The Earth is big enough for all kinds of people.”

I know I can’t change the way I look. But maybe, just maybe... people can change the way they see. If they do, they’ll see that I’m a wonder. And they’ll see that they’re a wonder too. We’re all wonders!” - Auggie (Wonder, RJ Palacio)

Each one of us is CHOSEN by God, MATTERS to God and is LOVED by God. God wants us to treat one another with LOVE and KINDNESS.

"If every single person in this room made it a rule that wherever you are, whenever you can, you will try to act a little kinder than is necessary– the world would be a better place. And if you do this, if you act just a little kinder than is necessary, someone else, somewhere, someday, may recognise in you, in every single one of you, the face of God.” -Mr Tushman (Wonder, RJ Palacio)

Do all the good you can, by all the means you can, in all the ways you can, in all the places you can, at all the times you can, to all the people you can, as long as ever you can. - John Wesley

Choose KIND

Join us for Awesome Time on Sunday to hear a WONDERful story and talk about what it means to choose to be KIND.

We'll be creating some WONDERful art to display in the gallery - so bring an old shirt or apron to protect your clothes from paint, ink and other messy stuff!

FISH trailer

A few months ago at FISH, one of the team challenges was to make a movie trailer for FISH, our Family Fun Night. Unfortunately due to gremlins in the technology some of the video and photo footage was lost... BUT... Monica has managed to retrieve some of the fine camera and editing work done on the night and pieced it together with footage from other FISH nights to finish a trailer. Enjoy!

Playing by the Rules

This morning in Awesome Time we talked about rules. We discussed a card game, UNO, and unfortunately I had lost the rules. Luckily Caleb knew the game pretty well and was able to fill me in on all those tricky rules like 'change direction', 'pick up 2 cards', 'draw 4' etc.

We heard a story about Moses (Remember him? The baby in the bulrushes?) and how God gave Moses 'the Ten Commandments'. We thought these were kind of like God's 'Top 10' - a list of things we need to remember and use to live our lives by, following in Jesus' footsteps.

We then each created our own board game, inspired by the Ten Commandments. If your counter landed on a square that said you 'did something good', like shared or showed kindness or honesty then you got to move ahead a few spaces on the journey around the board. If you broke one of the commandments, for example didn't listen to your parents, told a lie, or "stole a friend's fidget spinner", then you had to go back a few squares.

You might like to try making your own board game at home - a good activity for a rainy day during the holidays!

Stars at the Church Concert

This afternoon we were treated to star performances at the Parish Concert. Below are photos of our young musicians, AbsolUKE, and Dylan after his amazing lyrical dance performance.

Performers at the concert ranged in age from 7 years of age to 90+ and there were a variety of items, from singing to instrumental performances, and even a few jokes :o)

A crowd favourite was an amazing piano performance by special guest Jonathan Petty.

Well done to all the amazing performers and thank you for sharing your talents with us.

I will post a few video clips soon.

Going on a Journey

This morning our Awesome Kids went on a journey - through, over, under and around all sorts of obstacles.

We were reminded that whatever we do, wherever we go, God is always with us, loving us and guiding us.
