Awesome Kids / Hot Chocolate Club

Awesome Time: all age worship, 10am Sundays at the Chapel Street Centre, corner of Chapel St & Harewood Road, Papanui.

Our Awesome Kids meet on Sunday mornings, and begin by joining the rest of the congregation for family-friendly worship. The first part of our service includes a children's song, a story or drama and a children's prayer, led by one of our Awesome Kids.

Our children then go out to our own 'kids space' for around 30 minutes, where two Awesome Leaders run a children's programme, exploring stories from the Bible in a fun and creative way, bringing the message of God in a way that's relevant and meaningful to the children:
"Jesus loves me. Jesus will be my friend forever."

There is usually much chatting, laughing, playing and creating something crafty to take home. Parents are welcome to come too. The children re-join the congregation for the last part of the service and share what they have been doing.

Our children are welcomed, celebrated and nurtured and their participation in the life and worship of our parish is highly valued and encouraged.

Our congregation loves to hear news from the children and celebrate their successes and milestones; whether it be sporting or academic achievements, a music recital, birthday or a lost tooth! Many of our children have developed special friendships with some of our elderly members, who have become like adopted grandparents, some sharing their skills and knowledge with the children, such as sewing, painting, music and arachnology!

Older children can choose to go to Hot Chocolate Club (for intermediate/high school age). We meet twice a month on a Sunday morning, to explore the bible reading and theme of the day in a way that is relevant to our youth of today. We often play a game or two, and there is usually either hot chocolate or chocolate milk and snacks.
